This is research I have done about different college magazines layout and content, as this will help me to help me with ideas when producing my own college magazine.
Haverford spring/summer magazine 2013
The Haverford cover shows some key points of what the magazine is trying to point out to the audience some of the features with in the magazine. The cover uses a past Haverford graduate as the main feature article and how his time at Haverford has helped him to become what he is today. The shot is a medium close up, and is looking directly towards the camera, which would be directly looking at the potential buyer.
The Haverford university magazine, first issued in 1898, is a 62 page magazine showing the wide range consisting of reviews, stories of present and past students, information about the university and the things that happens in the Haverford. The magazine also gives a background of what goes on in certain subjects; the types of subjects are
Different each time a new magazine is published. Inside the magazine shows a contents page on the first few pages. This is to also to give insight on what is to be expected inside the magazine and the articles with in it. In this particular issue, there is a double page spread of the process that happens when new students arrive for the start of their next step in their lives.
SMU Fall 2009 magazine
The masthead of the magazine is at the top of the page in red bold text which. The t-shirt that is being worn links with the title and the colleges name. the feature image is the main focus of the magazine and the model used for the picture, is Olympic gymnast Nastia Lukin, because of her success, her views about the campus will attract the audience. The anchorage is of the college views which Lukin has given. The magazine is a free magazine for the college student ; more reason for students to look through the magazine, even if it isn't to look at it in great detail. The SMU magazines contents includes; interviews, reviews, sport updates, class notes and news pages.
SMU is a 32 page magazine, with news that highlights what has happened over the weeks since the last issue, followed by the contents page. pages also included in the magazine is advertisements for upcoming SMU events and vouchers and discounts on products; by having these discounts and vouchers, it will promote the magazine more to other students.
