7. Looking back at
your preliminary task (the College magazine), what do you feel you have learnt
in the progression from it to full product?
I have learnt a great deal more since producing the preliminary task, which was creating a college magazine. Especially with the tools, software and knowledge of magazines. I have learnt a great deal when it came to the Two software programs I used, Photoshop and InDesign. I had used more photography in my final product, whereas I only taken a few shots of photography for my preliminary task.
When it comes to the covers, you will see that the layout itself has improved and that the final product has been produced with a lot of detail and many different magazine conventions, where as the college magazine is much more simpler and has only a couple. Photography has also improved, with the college magazine an image of photography had a medium close up and no editing was used. With the final product the distance of the photography used is a medium long shot at eye level, with the model standing in position with the pose which links to the headline.
The contents page has also evolved since the college magazine. Layering and scaling has been thought of when creating the final product. More conventions have been used again and the photography that has been used.
When it comes to knowledge, I have learnt a lot about how magazines are produced and what is need to produce a good piece of work. Needing a style and target audience and how to cater for that audience and to be able to sell .
