Question 2

In magazines you are more than likely to see the lifestyle the artists have and how they live their life, as they are constantly in the spotlight. Sometimes its not even about the music, its about how much they earn or how reckless they were the night before. Its not just the singers actors and sportsman do this also.

Two YouTube videos that I have placed on this page are of Miley Cyrus, in the past and now. what you can see is the style of pop that she once had, has changed and evolved so much and now is much different than before. she started the pop business when she was at the start of her teens and now after a few years is now trying to shed the image she once had. She is now using shock factor when it comes to producing and selling music.

The first clip is from when Miley Cyrus was in  the Disney company, this was  when her style of pop music was aimed for children and had the bubble gum, sweet and innocent. The style of which she dresses  is also a main factor of this, the stereotypical,  Disney princess of pop attire; pink and sparkles and glitter, make up to the minimal.  With the Disney company make these
stars and have the children look up to them and follow them and copy their actions. This is because children are like sponges and absorb all information and copy actions from adults as they believe this is the right way to go.

The second video, is of Cyrus a couple of years after leaving the Disney company, as well as her role as a role model to younger audiences. This shows that she is in the progression of shedding her image from one target audience to another. The new target audience for Cyrus is now older teens and young adults. As she is trying to sell to older audience, the way she promote herself has also changed. shes now selling with sex and adult themes. The music style is now not just pop, she

Another Disney star that was selling with the same audience as Cyrus and now the video that is shown, is aimed towards children and young teen girls audiences, with pop/dance music. Selena Gomez, like Cyrus, was left the Disney crew to sell to a wider range of audiences. Now she is transitioning into catering for young adults, as she is growing up her music changes and 'grows up' with her.

Another successful type in the Pop industry are boy bands, They are versatile and  have many target audience groups; children, young teen and older teen girls. They sell to these audiences as the girls are supposed to find these boys attractive and successful. So this sells, not only do they sell their music they sell merchandise of their band, making huge profit.

The video below is an insight of how bands sell in a clever and comical way.
